Ships locks up and cannot turn after removing blocks from build

Building on the ship (placing new blocks, breaking old ones) while its assembled causes it to freeze up. Can go up and down but will not turn. Liked locked on some invisible blocks.

its because your ship is still "ALIGNED" so press sneak+rightclick your helm and press "ALIGN" again to disable it allowing you to turn.
