Overwrites wp-content and subsequent URLs

I found an issue after most recent update, and also reported this on the wp forum page, a while ago this plugin started overwriting the wp-content's url by adding the default or selected language to it. So instead of having "/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/some-image.jpg", it is now "/en/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/some-image.jpg", or "/ro//wp-content/uploads/2019/11/some-image.jpg", or "/hu/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/some-image.jpg", you know what it means...

I have tried several ways to override this directly in htaccess, tried different combinations of permalink rules, to no avail.

I am certain previous versions worked well in this regard, because this was a live site and actually making sales. (the site in question is https://generationfurniture.eu) Now, because of this issue, obviously some images no longer appear, because there's no subfolder in wordpress for every language, every language prefix is just added by the plugin.

I would very much like to know how to fix this, as I've worked quite a lot to put this site together, lots of products, variations, full descriptions in 3 languages, etc., and it cannot be used now because of this URL overwriting issue.
