Please help! My game (sm64) is either fast or slow. I'm not comfortable playing. What should I do?

When I play sm64 it is very fast then very slow (like lags). I'm using render96. But I didn't have that before. I re-stopped the game and ate. Why?. Can this be solved? Help please I am not comfortable to play.
