How to switch from using a single profile for each version (default) to common profile for all versions? Canary crashes on startup when replacing Stable release.

The first time you run the Launcher you will be asked if you want to use a single profile for each version (default). Or use a common profile for all versions, or the default user profile stored under "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge xxx". I have used default option 1. How to change to option 2? When I switch from Stable release to Beta, Stable is deleted. How can I switch to keeping both under a single profile? Btw when switching to Canary it hangs. Can't run latest Canary release under my profile.
