Great remote desktop app, but needs some work (+ multi-server support)
Just installed this today. I'm using the newest version on Windows 10 Pro on a tablet PC. It seems to work, though it is a bit unstable and some minor interface glitches, but nothing too bad.
Anyway, I have a few feature/improvement suggestions:
- Make everything (except the client) work over 1 port, so that it will be easier to set up port forwarding.
- Maybe more detailed instructions on router port forwarding for users who don't already know how.
- Ability to listen to connected microphones (on the webcam tab).
- Configurable inactivity timeout.
- Trigger a Windows notification when a client connects, for security purposes. (Maybe close the connection if the user clicks on it?)
- Integration with some free DDNS services ex. dnsdynamic.org
- Better solution for multiple computers on the same network (you have to forward all the ports to different external ports currently). You can use firewall hole-punching.
- Client interface should have a way of managing multiple PCs with the software, and a computer list for one-click connect. The problem is how to get a list of the PCs you own without user accounts. Maybe you could allow users to select a master server, that the rest connect to for a list of your other PCs. Alternatively, you could try some kind of Microsoft or Google account integration.
- And speaking of Microsoft accounts, you also need to mention on the guide that if you use a Microsoft account on your Win10 PC, you must log in with your Microsoft email. I only realized because I remember having to do that to access my PC remotely from File Explorer as well.
It would be cool to pretty much get the benefits of a user account based remote desktop software like TeamViewer without actually having to have any of the user accounts.
BTW I also have an issue of a repeated error: SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data - Line 1
. I can open a separate issue on the client GitHub project if you want. (I'm sure someone's already reported it anyway though.)
Oh, also I don't have a profile icon on the client. Is that supposed to match my profile photo?
