h5 Radiation Seed File
Hello!
I was peeking through the documentation and source code and am wondering if there is an example using the dtype = 'h5' raw input for the radiation seed file.
Could you supply a bare-bones h5 template and tips for using this? Is this method not recommended for performance/memory reasons?
Hi - the format is, IIRC, identical to the output radiation file format. It's not very well documented though! It's not really for performance reasons, it's more around the complexity of having to ensure the grid is setup correctly, the process is quite raw. You are giving puffin a radiation grid and values at all the nodes, and if the sampling is incorrect then the sim will be invalid... I'm not sure we used this ourselves for anything significant, I will need to check, but I am unfortunately not able to get to a computer easily right now as I'm on vacation. However, if you are able to open up and understand the radiation output file then you may be able to construct your own input file. I'll have a proper look when I get back.
