Getting a Discord channel bot

Bot Function

The bot would be limited only to interacting with #thastus channel. And it's purpose can be derived from my following conversation with LR:

yooks Yesterday at 10:47 PM So basically a regular user that responds to queries and brings Github status reports Informs users of new releases and stuff. One thing I can think of right of the bat, is that users could subscribe to it and when a new release is available it would include their usernames (mentions or pings) in the release announcement on the channel. This would notify users that they should update. Also rewarding users (me and thastus excluded) with a nice "Great Job" kind of message when they would either submit/resolve an issue or make a new pull request basically contributing to a project in some way. This would motivate them more to go on GH and make more issues.

Expectations

I've had a preliminary conversation with the server owner (LondonRook) about this and he seems receptive to the idea. It should be discussed at their next ordinator-only meeting somewhere in the next week or two, then we will know more about the realistic possibilities of getting this. There is also this idea presented:

LondonRook Yesterday at 11:06 PM Well we've had multiple people who've wanted to make a bot for the server of the years, so this isn't exactly new territory for us. I think this is the kind of thing that's well suited to collaborate on actually. Once we know the extent of how limited the server bot is, we can get a team together to work on bots for individual rooms. If people are still inclined to working on it together.

Discussion

Leave your thoughts on what you would like the bot to be able to do and why. If we are able to present a more concise and clear case on why this would be a great benefit to the server as a whole by improving the guide channels customer support.
