Unexpected behaviour using multiple controller's

With two xbox one controllers connected via a wireless adaptor I expected both of them to interface with Gopher, but only the first controller connected will.

Xbox One controllers are mapped as 1st player 2nd player and so on. Since the Xbox One, they don't show the player counter anymore. It is now impossible to have more than 1 person interface without taking turns.
