What's next
Development of Twidere has been stopped for over a year. There were multiple reasons for that. Out of free time, obsolete code base. And most importantly, Twitter's harsh limitations towards any unofficial apps makes writing an Twitter client isn't fun anymore. Multiple plans has been made, but yet to be decided. Overall, the plan is to build a new one from scratch. While building a full fledged app would take a long time, I'd like to start with a "lite" one, with small features like cross-posting to multiple platforms. And gradually add more features to it.
Hi. I'm very glad that you returned to Twidere development. It has been my only Twitter client for years. And later — my only client for Mastodon. Now I see you are in some doubts about where to go. So may I advise you something? You say that development for Twitter isn't fun anymore? Well, just drop it! Look at the Fediverse (Mastodon is the part of it). There's so much to do. Many growing services with thousands exciting features. Free communications like in the best days of Internet. And nearly none of them have there own mobile clients. Supporting their interoperability, Twidere may become the best client for all of them. Think of it, please. And thank you for your labor. zaph0dB.
Please don't drop the development of Twidere for Twitter. I'd like to contradict the previous comment in a way that there are already numerous clients for the fediverse (like Fedilab, Tusky etc.) but almost no FOSS clients for Twitter if you want to avoid the original Twitter app. For my purposes Twidere is working perfectly with Twitter and it's fast and lightweight. So please keep up the good work!
I won't drop Twitter support, because still I'm a Twitter user and most my friends are on it. I think Twitter is best when it was in 2009-2012. So the goal would be making a classic Twitter experience.

Those are not clients for Fediverse but only for Mastodon/Pleroma. Fediverse is much wider. But ok, maybe I was too abrupt. Sorry for that. I just wanted to persuade Mariotaku to move the focus of developement from proprietary money-making and userdata-manipulating network to something free and open. But sure, it's up to him.

I would argue as well so that the development fediverse part of Twidere shall continue.
Fediverse, in fact holds more future promise than Twitter. It's far more diverse in its application, and far more survivable due to decentralised nature. Also, Fediverse projects are a lot less likely to break the APIs, in fact quite the opposite, APIs on Fediverse projects have to be stable so that the whole thing could work.
Twidere has been a lot of people's favorite client, including mine for a long time.

@zaph0dB The key now is to make it easy for Twitter users to migrate to the fediverse, so a client that works with both Twitter and Pleroma/Mastodon should be better suited for this. And I guess
small features like cross-posting to multiple platforms
would be a good start :)
@notpushkin The crossposting feature already is working (and working since a long time ago): Just tap your avatar in the compose dialog, then de-/select all accounts you want to post on.
I use Twidere with Twitter and Mastodon, and it does all I want. I don't mind development being less active for the past months. In my opinion, there was not really that much that would have needed improvements. It works and it's mostly very stable. I like the way the user interface works and customizes to my needs. I have no real complaints or wishes.
