Look into having separate downloads for Intel Silicon and Apple Silicon
The universal binary is very large. Architecture specific builds would be half the size
This could cause confusion for non tech-savvy users. I suggest that you should keep the universal binary, but for those who know what their architecture is, they can download the one for their specific arch.
it's possible this will end up being reverted, yes

It's easy to find out though (Apple logo > About This Mac, look at processor/chip) Keeping the universal binary is fine though (Windows has some installers that install both x86 and x64 specific versions)
~~It's probably possible for the website to detect the system's CPU architecture and prioritize the correct download link~~ doesn't seem like it
let's ponder this for one more major release
With the new website layout, I guess we can have a Universal download at the very top for everyone, and if they scroll down we can show Apple Silicon and Intel Silicon options. I'm not sure if having 3 separate downloads for macOS is really a good idea though
