Excessive Barrier usage in Archaic Aquaduct arena
Barriers are fine when they create a flat, non-intrusive pattern like in L'Borean's roof, or are out of the way to cover edge cases like in Colosseum arena, but having them in more varied layouts will cause issues with players getting briefly stuck on something they can't see, which can be big problems in the middle of boss fights.
The barriers in this arena do strike me as unnecessary. It's inconsistent with other arenas. This one doesn't strike as having a particularly egregious layout compared to any other arena with high places like Extraction station, City, Bridge, Shrine, Swamp, etc. All of those have high places and play fine.
Every boss besides normal BBB (he's just a T1 and there's no high jump thing at that point) has a way to reach you or encourage you to come down - referring to Elite BBB creating those gold apples in phase 2. I assume a lot of bosses will have ways to reach you, so I don't think the high places in this arena, or the aforementioned arenas will cause issues.
Solutions
- Remove almost all the barriers. I think it would benefit this arena more if you can jump up on the top of the trees/archaic blocks, along with risk of void. It looks fun. You can keep the ones that cover the 1-block spaces/other odd spots to avoid edge cases of things getting stuck in there.
(Like this spot)
As I said, the vertical layout of this arena doesn't seem more egregious than the other arenas.
OR
- If you do insist on keeping this arena closed, I would use black glass instead to be consistent with the other closed arenas.
