admin or others to be able to hide/clean/remove no-longer-active members

looking for hosting and connections, it's a huge let down when no one gets back to you- when you see on our map that the place you're going has 7 members, but not one responds to you in any way, it tarnishes the whole TR experience. It very well might be that those members are long gone, and I think it would be wise to remove them.

not a problem, really, but as someone who has seen member numbers jump due to bots as well as know that some members sign up once and never return, I think it would be good to have some way to check the database of members for "real" members.

Describe the solution you'd like I think this needs a 3 step process -

  1. someone goes into the membership data and eyeballs for strangeness - searching for '@fakeemail.com', multiple accounts with the same email, and things like that. There may be best practices that I'm not aware of, but this might be a start.
  2. an interface (button with a function) is sent out to all members saying 'click here to check your profile and say you still want to be a member of TR, or click to say goodbye'. Send this out maybe 4 different times over a month. Any member who doesn't click it gets at least 'hidden' off the map, or simply flushed out of the system.
  3. maybe before flushing, send all those that did not click anything 2 or 3 more emails asking again, over a 2 or 3 month period.

Describe alternatives you've considered

you could simply look at log in times, and hide anyone who hasn't logged in for a year, and have something that turns them back on, or asks them if they want to be turned back on when they do log in... this could negatively impact the numbers and maybe make people feel like they got dismissed.

You could also really improve the honesty of the numbers and 'buy in' if

Additional context All hospitality orgs have to deal with this 'dead members' issue - TR should as well. I can't seem to find any info about tackling this issue on slack or GH.

Add links to discussion on Slack (or Discourse).
