iKettle 3.0 Support?

Open roscoegray opened this issue 7 years ago • 5 comments

Hi, I have recently received the iKettle 3.0, just wondering if there will any updates to support this?

I have been using iBrew with a iKettle 1.0 for some time and its great, working with openhab and alexa, be great to get the new one going.

Is there anything i can do to assist? im not a programmer but i can run though all the commands on the phone and capture the network traffic?

Cheers‎

Hey @roscoegray Doesn't the new version have an API? How is the IFTTT functionality? What are the limitations? I'm guessing there's quite a few if you're requesting this?

Ah maybe! i only just realise it has IFTTT support, apart from being slow it works fine. Only limitationS i could see is not having a "stop boiling" option and feedback i don't think would be possible. It would be better for me if i can get something going local over relying on IFTTT. I will do some more research into the API and see what options i have with openhab.

Maybe this can be closed then if you think it will not need to be supported?

Oh no, I'm not a contributor here, just a user of it. Didn't mean to hijack your issue. If you think it's needed, by all means, keep it open. I'm using it with 2.0 on a local network only (and I access it remotely via VPN).

I would love to see the iKettle 3rd Gen. work with iBrew because of the possibility to work with homebridge HomeKit. At the moment I run my iKettle 2.0 with iBrew and homebridge-cmdswitch2 to control with  HomeKit and Siri. It works fantastic. Not just to saying "Hey Siri, it's teatime" and the Kettle starts. I also use it in rules and so forth.....
But this all would not be possible without the great work of @Tristan79 So hopefully there will be sooner or later a separate version of iBrew for the 3rd Gen. iKettle. 👍🏻

There is a slight change that only the firmware is changed and not the hardware. I do not have a never version to play with, and now that the firmware upload of the original is mapped out... who knows that you can downgrade your ikettle v3 and smarter coffee v2
