Currently its best to test the behavior on an emulator to save yourself some trouble. If a format isn't supported the worst that happens is the app freezes and you have to power off your 3ds.

Citra may report messages in the form of the following HW.Memory <Error> core/memory.cpp:Read:107: unmapped Read32 @

HW.Memory core/memory.cpp:Write:130: unmapped Write32 @

afaik citra doesn't support audio currently or at least I haven't heard any sound output from it.

It seems the behaviour on citra vs real hardware is different.

Some formats you may be be able to get back to homebrew menu by holding START

Tested with an ogg file on citra vs my n3ds and I was able to get out of citra, but not the n3ds.
