GMaps breaks unless allowing G Services Framework (system app)

Do you use TrackerControl from Google Play/F-Droid/other? F-Droid

Describe the bug Google maps will say it's offline and no new map tiles or search results will load. (GPS location still updates). It takes several days for it to stop working. Clearing Google Maps app data and forcing a restart doesn't help. But allowing Fingerprinting for Google Services Framework makes Google Maps work instantly again.

I guess Google must check if their fingerprinting information is stale and then stop Google Maps from working.

I'm using a Samsung phone with Android 12.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. See above.

I imagine you enable the monitoring of "System apps" for this? If so, I can unfortunately not offer any support for this. System apps can do all sorts of weird things, which is why one better uses a Custom ROM without tight integration of Google Services.

That's reasonable. It's the only thing that's broken for me after enabling monitoring of system apps, so that's pretty good. I mostly added this here in case others like me are struggling to figure out why Google Maps isn't working.

Ok, that makes sense! I've reopened this then. Thanks for reporting. :)
