Differentiate systems apps in Advanced options

Open ja7833 opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

Defining rules for systems apps currently exposes all system apps.

Would it be possible to differentiate Google system apps (e.g. Google Maps that you can only Disable and not Uninstall) vs system apps like com.android... etc.

This would introduce an intermediate system of rules vs the current basic/expert options. From another perspective, I'd like to be able to Monitor all Google Play apps but I don't want com.android... etc. to appear in the list of apps.

Thank you for the consideration.

Thank you for this suggestion. Do you have a more specific list of system apps that you'd like to analyse?

Many system apps are distributed via GPlay nowadays, so not trivial to distinguish.

As a general rule of thumb, if the system app is distributed via Google Play I would like to include it.

When Manage system apps is toggled on, what I don't want included are all the apps with the "generic android app icon" which seem to be in the majority.

Another option might be to automatically exclude all system apps that have No Internet access. From a quick review/guess this would exclude maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of the system apps?

As a quick solution I suggest a blacklist feature of system apps. This means they are treated the other way round than user apps. When you turn on control of system apps all are allowed and the users can decide which apps they want to control. Or you add a setting for blacklist/whitelist mode for system apps.
