Feature request: Support custom rewind/forward values via Siri commands

Open huynhxloi opened this issue 4 years ago • 5 comments

Bookplayer does not execute Siri commands correctly (or at all). For example, if I have the app playing and say "Hey Siri rewind by 10 minutes", there is no responding action. Occasionally, it will rewind but not by the specified time.

Hi @huynhxloi. The original template for issues exists for a reason, we can only help you if you give us more details.

Please tell us about your environment:

  • Version of BookPlayer
  • Your Device and its OS version
  • If the current behavior is a bug, please provide the steps to reproduce and if possible a minimal demo / screenshot / screen recording of the problem.

  • Version of BookPlayer: 3.8.2-1

  • Your Device and its OS version: iOS 13.4.1

  • If the current behavior is a bug, please provide the steps to reproduce and if possible a minimal demo / screenshot / screen recording of the problem:

    • While an audio is playing, give the command "Hey Siri rewind by 10 minutes". The player occasionally rewinds, usually 10-15 seconds (it varies), but never by the specified time.
    • If the command is "Hey Siri rewind" then it will jump back by 15 seconds. This command elicits the expected behavior.
  • Expected behavior: The expected behavior would be, as in the default Books app, that while the audio is currently playing or in Now Playing and the command "Hey Siri rewind/forward by X" is given, the audio file would be jumped back/forward by X. This is the exact behavior with Pause/Play commands, which Siri is able to execute within this app correctly, but has trouble with forward/rewind commands by a specified time.

Hi @huynhxloi , that is currently not implemented, we only support remote commands for rewind/forward with the already fixed interval selected within the app. This would need to be investigated and find out how Siri passes the stated value to the app, so it can be parsed and applied

I'm tagging this as a feature request

Ah I see. I would love to have this feature. I listen to long audiobooks (upwards of 40 hours) so jumping by 15 or 30 seconds just isn't going to cut it. With the Airpods Pro, using Siri to rewind/forward is great and very convenient, but only if it can jump by custom values.
