The only reasonable answer is that

10 + 9 == 19 and 9 + 10 == 21

to get 19, would you not need: 10 - 0 + 9?

10 - 0 + 9 == 19 because 10 - 0 == 1 and 1 + 9 == 19

There isn't any 8 in that number, though, so it would make more sense for that to stay as 9.

I see you used the infamous algorithm made by Fredrich Baptise in the year 1742.5

if n not in number where n is an integer between 0 and 26 and number is a number
x = - alphabet[ ( n % 3 ) ]

You are all overseeing one problem. Due to integer precision error, the actual answer would be 20.
