[Bug] Can't save WinBoat settings when allocating less than 2GB RAM

Open gaboUTN34 opened this issue 2 months ago • 3 comments

What version of WinBoat are you running?

v0.8.7

Your Environment

Distro: KDE neon Environment: KDE plasma (wayland) FreeRDP: flatpak 3.17.2

Steps to Reproduce / Context

Greetings.

I installed WinBoat and installed custom ISO of Win10 LTSC. I don't use it for heavy tasks so 2GB is more than enough for that system (of those 2GB I use approximately 1GB when using programs).

However, I didn't want the container running on each boot so I went to disable it on settings. To my surprise, it won't let me save ANY of the settings just because I allocated less than 4GB for Windows. I tested the problem on both my laptop and my desktop.

Thanks.

Logs

winboat.log

install.log

Expected Behavior

I should be able to change settings even when allocating less than 4GB of RAM on WinBoat (since install).

Current Behavior

I can't change ANY settings while allocating less than 4GB of RAM on WinBoat (since install).

Possible Solution

Maybe, as a suggestion, display just a warning when allocating less than 4GB of RAM both on install and settings, as Windows 10 can run on 2GB while Windows 11 makes it mandatory.

The same thing happens to me. But I created the virtual machine with 2 GB and it works perfectly. However, Winboat prevents me from changing the "automatic startup" setting because the RAM allocation is 2 GB.

there needs to be minimum system requirements for this kind of thing, which if you're running a windows 11 VM, it's 4GB plus whatever minimum your distro needs. Also, the slider should have a minimum of 4GB which is the minimum requirement for Windows 11 Pro. So there needs to be a fix for each minimum requirement for each selected windows version, where the slider can only go that low. That is the solution to the bug.
