[Feature] App shortcuts in Linux application launcher
Feature Description
On various desktop environments (such as KDE), there is an application launcher that shows all the programs that have been installed on the system. A good feature would be for Winboat to create a folder with shortcuts to the Windows programs in it.
Use-Case
Right now users need to open Winboat and go to the Apps page before selecting which program they want to run. This would allow a more seamless integration with the Linux desktop by adding shortcuts like native programs, also allowing flexibility such as favorite/pinning to panels, search, and apps all in one place, rather than needing to go through a 'launcher'.
Proposed Implementation
Users would be able to select which shortcuts are added/removed from the Winboat app screen. The shortcuts would then be placed in a Winboat folder/category for organization purposes. The shortcuts would have the icon and name of the program, and an optional description that says it will use Winboat to launch the program. If the Windows container isn't running, selecting the shortcut should start it.

I second this enhancement to add windows application shortcuts as desktop icons. The WinApps project does this so one should look at the winapps installer .sh code. https://github.com/winapps-org/winapps
I would also like to recommend winboat adds a taskbar widget like the WinApps Launcher which can be used for system controls like powering off, rebooting and even launching specific windows applications. https://github.com/winapps-org/winapps-launcher
yes pls
This would be very very helpful
This would be a great feature
Would love to see that as well. Thx for making such a great program
give!
Second this! Would make the user experience even more awesome and make it feel more integrated/seamless.
I second this too. Not having this feature is actually a deal breaker for me. No offense though, really aweseome project! :)
Plus one on this. It would be really nice if the user did not have to interact with the WinBoat app at all and could access their applications solely through their native host.
+1
in the meantime : if possible, launching an app from a command line would be nice (allowing to create a .desktop file manually, which would solve the issue) (edit : command is in winboat.log file :) so it works. Credentials are readable / hardcoded but will do for a start)
@TibixDev Can someone review the PR#417 by @enXov ?
would be really nice
