How to use Calibredb

Open TheBranchDriftCatalyst opened this issue 5 years ago • 10 comments

I am confused about how to use calibredb. What is required. Do I need to run a calibre webserver separately, do I need to run a command via bash to link the books library to the calibre db. Any further information would be helpful as to how the two interact with each other.

/opt/calibre/calibredb --with-library=/books

For more information, I have books in the lazy library database. I assume it should auto-add books there into the calibre database? Is there a button I need to press- a job that needs to run or do I manually run this command.

What triggers the add to the calibre DB?

Reading other issues, the most helpful says there should be a 'calibre sync' on the manage page, yet i do not see this.

The setup i expect to use is to run this docker container then the linuxserver/calibre-web alongside it. Have the calibre-web server point to the thraxis calibre db.

I have exactly the same question, i am struggling to understand how to automatically populate the calibre database so i can use calibre web

I took a break in order to get my main system setup, sonarr, plex, etc, will get back to this eventually.

Honestly will probably go to the original linuxserver containers. I forgot what the difference between thraxis and linuxserver is, but i think thraxis has calibre integrated LS does not? Given the rate of updates here- it might just be worth using the separate services. Will leave this open for a bit though, until i get back to it.

https://lazylibrarian.gitlab.io/config_processing/#calibre

This image has calibredb accessible at /opt/calibre/calibredb, so set your 'Calibre import program' to that and it should import them as part of it's processing.

don't think this is being actively developed anymore lol

but calibredb isn't updating calibre for me ... just like everyone else
