Need For Speed Underground 2 Widescreen Fix - Better Autosave

Is there a way to improve the autosave feature in Need For Speed Underground 2 to save more often? Examples of when it could autosave with the fix could be, every time you win/lose an outrun race, collect a cash pickup during free roam, go back to the garage, delete a tuned car, and finish a race in quick race mode. I happen to be a computer programmer and know that it's possible to make the game call the function that saves the game every time such events happen.
