[VCS PPSSPP] poor interaction with 60FPS hack in widescreenfix

Open emcy849 opened this issue 2 months ago • 4 comments

I had installed both 2dfx and WSF for VCS in PPSSPP, i noticed that the 60FPS held until the sun when down, and then when the streetlights came on, it dropped down to 30FPS instead. Seems to be a bug?

Project2DFX is very costly to performance, you have to increase CPU Clock under System -> Emulation.

Ok i tried maxing the cpu speed all the way to 1000 [high enough the audio starts glitching out] via 400, 500, 600 etc and the framerate still drops from 60 to 30. Tested at the very beginning of the game, just hopping on the bike and riding from the base into town at night, theres a specific point where it drops from 60 to 30 when youre close enough to downtown.

It could still be true that even an emulated cpu speed of 1000 isnt enough juice to maintain 60fps with 2dfx active, but then maybe that means 2dfx itself has to be toned down a little bit in order to run WSF 60FPS and 2dfx at the same time? If its just not possible, its no big deal i suppose.

Try to do that, there are ini settings.

Some results after a lot of testing:

CPU set to 400

coronafarclip = 500 [default]: drops to 30fps and stays there coronafarclip = 450: many drops below 60fps, but better than 500 coronafarclip - 400: stays at 60FPS fine

Seems this setting is really sensitive between this small range. It also seemed like the lights were noticeably less pretty even at 450.
