Career stats not functioning properly (football/soccer)

I'm in the second year of running my Sportspress site for my soccer league and have been running into issues with getting it to properly show statistics and career stats. My league might function a little different from most in that it's a redraft league. All the players who sign up are drafted onto a new team, so there's no carry-over for teams really. There are plenty of players who play year-to-year, so I wanted to keep track of these players stats year-over-year. I've used the importer to import all the players to new teams. This for the most part worked, importing players and not creating duplicates.

The problem I have is that I have 136 players who don't have any stats. I have to go through a rather laborious number of steps to get it working.

  1. Under statistics I need to select club, even though SportsPress should already know this data, it's not assigning anything to this dropdown. I need to do this for each season the player has been in the league.
  2. Under career total I need to check the box beside the season for it to show the total. SportsPress again knows that this value should be selected, since the player already has a season assigned to them.
  3. In many cases I have to add the past team to the player, even though in the player list view I can see that SportsPress has it indicated that the player played for a previous team.
  4. I'll also need to add the previous season to the players details. In some cases it did this properly when importing, in other cases it didn't.

Now I contacted support about this and they kinda washed their hands of this, implying I should hire a developer to fix this programatically. I'm somewhat at a loss as to why if all the data is there in the database it isn't populating into other places in the editor where they should logically populate? To me this feels like there should be no way a league manager should be manipulating the individual player data this much to get it to work. It's like all the data that is already supplied in the details panel is ignored when populating the stat section. Are other users of SportsPress doing this process, or am I missing something glaring about how this should be handled?

I attempted another try at importing my data. I worked a fair bit on getting my data cleaner, so that the sheet checked if the player had played previously and indicated whether they had played multiple seasons. I also imported the players previous team into the data, which I hadn't done either. Did the import and still the season and career stats didn't work. This is a huge problem for me and I view it as a flaw of this plugin. The idea that I need to manipulate 136 players just to get their stats to work properly seems time intensive and awkward. Ideally this second season was supposed to easier having learned the ropes last year, yet now has turned into a data management nightmare.

Hi, I've been having the same problem. Trying to fix it for over two months. SportPress support has stopped responding to my support tickets and have said that I have everything setup correctly so I'm guessing this is just the way the plugin works.

All told this plugin is junk. I really wanted it to work and have spent months trying to figure out how this functions. Even when working at it's best this plugin requires hundreds of hours of setup time for each season. We have over 1,000 players and I have to duplicate a lot of our work just to get the teams and player lists to appear.

I can't believe I've wasted so much time on this piece of junk.

I don't necessarily feel the plugin is junk, there's plenty of things it does well, but it seems to have a very narrow focus on how it should be used. Since my league always redrafts every year and doesn't keep consistent rosters it seems like that use case is outside it's scope. I can totally feel your frustration, as your problem is multiplied many times over for a larger amount of players than my league.
