Selling and Rebuilding Internet Center with SH2 upgrade reveals map every time on completion
This (possible) bug/exploit was found by @LegionnaireG in a livestream on the 6th of July 2025
Reproduction steps:
- Build an internet center
- Get upgrade Satellite hack 1 and 2
- Sell the building
- Rebuild the building
- Every time the building completes, SH2 kicks in and the entire map is revealed.
Needs a discussion whether this is intended or not.
Could be exploited if money is no concern.
In Patch we already changed the Satellite Hack II to be a Power that can be activated like the USA Satellite Scan. So this may already be no concern in the long term.
I'm not a huge fan of the manual sathack2 change, the same mechanic as CIA and is not really a great buff, considering it costs so much investment.
About selling the IC for an immediate scan:
The refund value is 1250$, all 8 hackers are evacuted. Even if you set them to hack immediately, considering the unpack time and the fact you have to wait for the sell to complete before rebuilding, you lose an estimated 1000+$ for the time your hackers where not hacking in the IC.
That brings the cost for this action to 2250ish$ (its worse, there is variance in the unpack time for hackers and they have to pack again before goint back in the IC), basically the same as the upgrade cost of sathack2. Its also somewhat micro-intense to do this and you lose sathack1 for about 37sec + mines.
Also, losing your IC sucks and the benefit of it revealing the map after rebuilding is a welcome one, since you invested in it.
Usable if money is no concern, yes - but your time is much better spend on building units or using your armies.
If this is deemed a problem, maybe we could tie the refund value to the sathack2 timer or just freeze the timer when the building is sold / destroyed and continue when it's built again. The former at least would not be retail compatible, though.

well, but this changes gameplay mechanics. What should be done instead is resetting the cooldown of the revealing upgrade after the construction has been completed.
