EXIF metadata updating (in DAMS)

Currently if metadata is updated in the DAMS it should trigger a reprocessing event, so that our 'download' sized image is reprocessed (care should be taken if we decide to bulk-update metadata, to stop an un-planned mass re-processing event).

However as the DAMS doesn't update the master .tiff and we use the master .tiff to create our re-sizings (including the downloadable image). We will never see the new metadata in the EXIF data of our resized, downloadable image.

The ideal solution would be of the DAMS to update the master .tiff with the updated metadata.

Attempting to add in new metadata at the point of download (from the collection site) would require us to reprocess the (already resized) image before a user could download it. Which would add in an unwanted level of extra processing. It also wouldn't deal with the metadata on thumbnails.
