Add a 'Not of Display' message, need to get agreement on text.

If the object is not on display, as some visitors expect the object to be on view, if if it doesn't show a display location.

This feels a bit heavy on every page, so let's hold off for now.

Instead lets add a message to the about page about why only some records are on display. https://collection.sciencemuseumgroup.org.uk/about

Can I see the physical object in the museum?

Unfortunately we only have a limited amount of space within our museums to display physical objects from the Group's Collection.

Where an object is available to display it will be indicated with a 'On Display' block (image below). However if you are If you are visiting one of our sites specifically to see an object, please contact us in advance to make sure that it will be available to view during your visit.

We periodically run temporary exhibitions and occasionally change what objects are on display, so do check back.

From the 3rd of April 2024 objects may also be available to view via appointment at our new National Collection Centre in Wiltshire. Please contact us to enquire about object availability and book and visit.
