It is like normal torrents, it just uses I2P trackers and also I2P peers, but it should use I2P to get the file if an url is specified

In your setup you should make sure you enabled SAM, because by default it isn't

+1 It would be usefull if other projects wants to use Bitmessage core without having a UI

If you port Bitmessage to python 3.4, it would be good to also keep 2.7 compatibility

I'm with @aaannndddyyy's opinion here... I don't see why someone should use e-mails to send offline messages. And like said @aaannndddyyy e-mails aren't distributed and leave too much metadata.

@louy2 There is also I2P-Bote which permits sending offline messages
