Custom suspend videos not working anymore

Open Warrior-Wanderer opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

The custom animations plugin doesnt seem to load alternate suspend/sleep animations anymore. I tried manually installing suspend videos and dropping them into the uioverrides folder on desktop, but it still doesn't work. it's still the default animation.

Any ideas as to why custom suspend videos aren't working all in a sudden?

Not entirely sure what you are referring to with the overrides folder, but the plugin generally works by downloading animations into a downloads directory then symlinking selected animations into the override directory(~/.steam/root/config/uioverrides/movies). If you already have files in that directory, they could interfere with the symlinking. Another thing to try is restarting the Steam UI, since occasionally I've seen that be necessary for changes to take effect (Probably only when reverting to the default). If the normal boot animation isn't working, then ensure that deck_startup.webm is selected in the system customization settings.

My boot animations are working as intended. It's the SUSPEND animations that aren't. I tried restarting my system; manually download from REPO and drop it in the same folder as my boot animations (as instructed online and in the exact same directory you listed); and even manually select it right from customization menu from my settings. No luck.

What else could I do?

If the override directory isn't working, there's not really anything the plugin can do to fix it. It's possible something changed with a recent update, but I haven't heard anything else about suspend animations breaking. The plugin does delete anything in that override dirctory when applying animations, so uninstalling the plugin, cleaning the directory, and add a suspend test animation manually might work.

The same for me, but I just installed plugin for the first time. Boot animations working, suspend - doesn't, even being explicitly selected in UI. Anything we can do to debug this issue?
