Various improvements to American and British English

I didn't include the z/s and other minor spelling differences yet, but I will add it in subsequent PRs, cf. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_English#/media/File:International_English_Spelling.png

There are some changes in these commits (trousers -> pants, torch -> flashlight, peckish -> hungry) that looked like they were right to begin with.
