uORF name or definition change

Open murphyte opened this issue 3 years ago • 1 comments

We are looking at adding a regulatory_class for uORF or regulatory_uORF to the INSDC specifications, and are trying to sync up with SO.

SO term: uORF (SO:0002027)

The current term has the less specific name "uORF", but is defined as "plays a role in translational regulation"

Should the SO term be renamed as "regulatory_uORF" (which is currently a synonym), or should the definition be revised to be less specific?

I don't know if existing usage of SO:0002027 is constrained to uORFs with demonstrated regulatory uORF function. I suspect not. It may be cleanest to change the definition of SO:0002027 to be less specific, and add a child regulatory_uORF term that is more specific.

Hi SO -- have you had a chance to look at this? We need to decide on which term and definition to use for INSDC. Thanks!
