Have you tried 'Ctrl+' ?

cospan avatar Sep 12 '17 23:09 cospan

Err escape codes!! Ctrl+\

Err escape codes!! Ctrl+\

That does cause the simulation to exit, but I'm not sure what it's doing-- that's not a standard Unix interrupt signal, is it? This page says that ^\ is "file separator".

EDIT: oh, nevermind, I see that it sends SIGQUIT. That's interesting; I didn't know this.

TC01 avatar Sep 13 '17 19:09 TC01

Actually it... seems under some circumstances that Ctrl+\ doesn't cause the simulation to exit either. Sometimes I wind up needing to background and then kill it instead.

I have the opposite problem with icarus. If I press Ctrl+C the simulation pause and I get the icarus console : >> To quit the simulation I have to type «finish» then press enter.

With a more regular execution flow in cocotb, it is certainly possible to more gracefully end cocotb and signal the simulator to shut down.

Ctrl-\ will also be in the docs for the 1.5 release (#2343).
