Substantial Left-Right shift in Chrome when mousing over hyperlinks

Open sojan80 opened this issue 4 years ago • 2 comments

There is a noticeable left-right shift when mousing over hyperlinks, especially ones followed by emojis. This is happening because of the transition from a standard underlined non-bold hyperlink text to a bold faced non-underlined text. It is the weight change in the font causing the shift.

A simple solution would be to just remove the underline on mouse over instead of switching to bold and removing the underline. Alternatively, start with bold text with no underline and and on mouseover simply do a hover color change. Make visited links the same blue as the activities page background.

Also you want to make sure your transition works well when tabbing through page elements.

@sojan80 can you point me at an example?

I noticed this shift primarily in blocks of text with hyoerlinks and emojis. At the time of the report I think I noticed it on the home page, and activities page. Basically anywhere you might see a hyperlink and an emoji side by side.
