Have you looked into use QGPGME or LibKleo (more high lvl)? Plus would be a higher lvl API suited for C++ rather than using the C API. I think this...
I noticed compared to pass itself,browser plugins or Qt pass, pass-secrets doesn't store any metadata inside the keys. Sure doing so would require to decrypt more keys however storing metadata...
What is needed to push this to for the current ver?

I think applications should be started by the session-manager not by the window-manager. I don't think ***@***.*** is needed as there wouldn't be more than one windoww-manager in the session....

Not necessarily if i3 trigger the launcher all programs started by the launcher are in the launchers scope (usually the user slice, as you said too). This merely affects programs...
Krunner. The launcher is activated using DBus Activation.
I found that later after creating that post. Khardel works somewhat is seem reliable because of it's backend however the integration isn't as good as org-contacts or bbdb would be....
