Steam Deck verified status
Dicey Dungeons got it's steam deck review:
Would be nice to go for that verified badge, especially since we're so close. The specific issues that we failed on are these:
The following items were observed with Mouse / keyboard style glyphs: "Esc" for settings on the main menu.
This game does not default to external Bluetooth/USB controllers on Deck, and may require manually switching the active controller via the Quick Access Menu
That first one is easily enough fixed; the second seems like more of a Steam Deck specific thing, hard to figure out without a device on hand.
I guess I might leave this until I have a steam deck? I'm in the Q2 queue, which has is due to start sending out in April. It can probably wait until then...
Oh; also, for some reason, the game was reviewed on proton, even though we have a linux native version that would clearly run better. I'll see if I can request a specific linux build when I apply for a re-review.
Just got a second review, this time using Native! Same result, though.
Hi - just getting started with Dicey Dungeons - seems awesome! I've got a steam deck, so can give you a little more detail on the controller issue in case it helps. First game I played, the steam deck controller worked fine with the standard setup - with controller icons visible and everything worked fine - I beat the first run, then quit. Now whenever I launch it I see the "Esc" icon in the top left and it does not accept any input from the controls unless I switch to a mouse simulator type setup. This still works, but the full controller support was much more of a joy to use as the trackpad mouse is usable, but not as comfortable.
Oh, weird! Thank you, that's good info 👍
After a steam deck reboot and another try - the Esc still shows for the settings menu, but the joypad buttons are working again - seems to be intermittent that the controls are not picked up. Will keep playing and let you know if I see any pattern.
Playing regularly for a few days now (still stuck at the witch, but getting very close with that) - so far I have only had to restart the game one more time to get the controller to register - so it really hasn't been a noticeable issue.
Up to 8 hours now (made it past the first witch episode) and not really had any more issues with the controller not being detected on startup. If you'd like me to check anything with the USB or bluetooth external controller just let me know
not sure if that part of the comment actually affects the verified status though
I think the only thing stopping the game to be verified is the (esc) Settings
string so I changed when detecting a gamepad:
This game does not default to external Bluetooth/USB controllers on Deck, and may require manually switching the active controller via the Quick Access Menu
This shouldn't stop the game to get the verified status as I've seen multiple Verified games with the same text
