Expected Behavior

  1. I've been made aware that the railgun ammo is supposed to respect tfc stack sizes (as in 1 stack of ingot is 16)
  2. I'm not supposed to see railguns from other saves
  3. I can fit items like redstone and workbenches in railgun input busses

Actual Behavior

  1. Well it looks like it does the vanilla 3 stacks of 64.
  2. I can see railgun and receivers from other saves.
Image
  1. I can't put redstone and workbenches in the railgun input bus (what I've found so far)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Put like 12 stacks of ingots in the railgun input bus, it will send all of it to the receiver with one ammo.
  2. Make railgun and receivers on multiple saves.
  3. Try inputting redstone and workbenches to the input bus

Additional Information

  1. Honestly, I prefer that it just uses the vanilla 3*64 stack sizes, it would make it so much better for people to use the railgun and is a good qol feature imho. I've been fiddling with the railgun for like 16 hours by now and heard that the ammo is supposed to respect tfc stack sizes just now and that destroyed my hopes to the point I made my first creative save to test stuff out lol. It would be a good thing since it would encourage more people to use the railgun since it's already so hard to use (imo, maybe I'm just skill issued). For instance, I can send 144 processors worth of stuff in ammo compared to like idk half of that? Let alone the fact that printed processors take plates which has a stack size of 16, just being able to send 48 would suck so much.

  2. Yea no I don't think this is good, imagine if you can use it with railguns on servers lol

  3. Not being able to input redstone and workbenches is a huge issue since me interfaces and patprovs uses workbenches in the recipe while redstone is used to make the ae2 processors

I believe number 3 is because blocks are banned from the railgun. Which is something that we are going to change. I dont think anyones done that yet? If they have, then it is in fact a bug

As for the stacksize. I personally dont see an issue with making it 3*64. But the purpose of having it follow stack sizes is because stack sizes are related to the weight of the object. And it just makes sense that you cant send heavy things as much. It is very much intended that you spam railgun firings

For number 3, yea you guys need to get on with that or at least make it so you can send redstone and crafting tables since if the railgun purpose is to send items between planets for their easier or unique crafts, not being able to do it with those two items kinda make it unusable, especially since redstone makes the most integral part of ae2 components, the processors. It's probably not that high of a priority for you guys since the railgun isn't working on servers and there's still many bugs with it but I hope you guys are aware of this at least

For the stack size, sometimes it's better that the user experience is good than "realism" so that more people aren't discouraged from using the railgun and I'm very opposed to making it respect tfc stack sizes but I understand why you guys think otherwise since maybe the design philosophy of the railgun is really for it to be spammed. ~~I would love for one of you to suffer using the railgun like I did (not that developing the railgun isn't already stressful enough haha)~~

Anyway, I just want a clear decision about this soon since I can then adjust my railgun setup depending on whether it uses the tfc stack sizes or not. Although I don't think I can use much of the railgun anyway since you can't send redstone with the railgun lol

Yes your majesty

After further testing, I haven't managed to get railguns from two separate saves to work which is nice ig. I think I figured out how I can see the railguns from other saves, it happens when you setup the railguns and then leave to join another save and somehow it can see the railguns from previous save but after relogging the monitor works like normal with me only seeing railguns in that save.
