How to open waveform viewer

Open crnicholson opened this issue 5 months ago • 2 comments

I've looked everywhere in the docs on where to open the waveform viewer but alas there is nothing anywhere so I'm stuck. How do I open it? Thank you!

Edit: I'm running into a few more issues. How do I add just a blank file? The whole file manager not being in the built-in VSCode file manager is really odd and rather annoying. Furthermore, why are my project files being stored in the extension data? Why can't I store them anywhere else? Lastly, is there a support community like Slack or Discord because this isn't the purpose of GitHub issues. Thanks again!

Quite new to TerosHDL, but opening a waveform is explained quite well in this guide https://leguan.ti.bfh.ch/tools/vscode_teroshdl.html. Also make sure to select GUI in Tools → Select the execution mode, otherwise no waveform files (.vcd) will be generated.

I think it's a valid question regarding a communication channel, I'm not aware of any.

I'm guessing the reason for the seperate file managing (as opposed to eg. a src folder approach) is likely due to the way terosHDL attempts to support several different tools.

I'm not sure if it's your question but you can add files from the TerosHDL view;

  1. Projects +: Add project (For example an empty generic project)
  2. Files +: Add (Source, You can navigate to & add any empty file you've created in the explorer)
