start at login pref no longer working

I had to reinstall all my software not long ago due to Apple fixing a buggy firmware load. Ever since then FlyCut has not opened at login like it is supposed to. I just did a little digging and I noticed that even though I tick the box in preferences, if I quit and restart the app, the box is now unchecked. So it feels like something is not going quite to plan. I'm open to ideas on how to debug this.

I'm using 1.9.6 (9) installed via homebrew.
