Context, per @jlkaiser:

When I did it, the stack-post.service and stack-pre.service were not getting installed at all on 7.x systems. I haven’t checked it yet. It’s a problem because of systemd which starts services in parallel. Sometimes stack-post.service starts up in the middle of the boot rather than at the end. Which is disastrous if you put stuff into a boot-post script that you expect to run after all the other services are up.
