What would you use this icon for?

For the same reason as https://github.com/Templarian/MaterialDesign/issues/6668 (i.e. to display the status of the media player in Home Assistant).

This is the cast Connected icon:

Since a Paused state still means it's connected, I would suggest to add a little pause icon here:

PS: the reason why I'm not asking for a Play variant is because the Connected one serves that purpose very well.
