Add UI for setting a fixed time range for an insight

Open Jeehut opened this issue 2 years ago • 4 comments

I'm having an issue while editing an insight.

Insight ID: 36D9CC23-5AE3-4FB9-A8AB-6E806538F4AA

Currently, I can easily select the granularity in the insights editor, for example, I can choose "Month" so I see one bar per month. But what I currently can't edit is the time range that I want to see. For example see this screenshot, which shows only the stats for 2 months although I have data dating back for a whole year which I would like to see all. Bildschirmfoto 2023-05-05 um 00 55 27

I'm sure there's a way to do that through the custom query, but I really don't want to use that, a UI is so much nicer!

In the top left, where it says "2 Months" you can change the global Time Range. Does that help?

Oh, I totally missed that. So now I can see the data I want for one insight at a time. But I want to create insights titled something like "New Users (last 6 months)" and "New Users (last 7 days)" side-by-side, how can I achieve that with a global setting? Consider widgets on the iPhone for example, I can't change a setting there and might want to have different time ranges for different insights.

Would love to see a "Fixed Time Range" setting for insights that overrides the global setting when it's set and falls back to that global setting when it's not or when it's set to "Global" (cause for some insights it might actually be useful to have a global setting to quickly change multiple insights at once). This should give the best of both worlds.

That's possible in TQL but not in the editor yet. So I'm considering this ticket a request for setting that on a per-insight basis in the editor :)

That's exactly what I want. 👍
