Same with version 8.8.1 is crashing on iOS 9.3.6 (iPad 3rd gen)
The same on ipad2 ios 9.3.5, what shall we do?
Please check that updating to 8.8.2 fixes the issue.
Just updated to 8.8.2. Still crashing on iOS 9.3.6 (iPad 3rd gen)
v8.2.2 crashed once (when I tried to view the last bumper 17/18-message Telegram bundle), but on re-loading, it seems to be OK, so far. (iPad 4, iOS 10.3.3). Will monitor, but thanks for the fix so far.
iPhone 5c with 10.3.3 having same problem(8.8.1) ... thats happening not first time :(
UPD 8.8.2 problem fixed.
Thank you, ali. I recognize this is a very old device with 512 MB RAM, but on my iPad2 (iOS 9.3.5) Telegram is still crashing. Doesn't open. I even reinstalled. As a reminder for others with the same issue, Telegram is accessible on my device through web.telegram.org/?legacy=1

Version 8.9 opens main screen, contacts and settings, but opening a chat, long pressing a chat for preview, clicking on that qrcode icon (in the settings page, maybe to export it) etc. crashes it still.

Version 8.9 iOS 9.3.6 (iPad 3rd gen) App opens now, but is not usable - crashes when trying to open a chat.
Great, so something has improved.

Opening telegram from the spotlight fixed the problem for me! May you test it?
We have been able to source a working iPhone 4s, but unfortunately it does not seem to be possible to perform any kind of debugging on it. No Mac (modern or not) running the latest macOS was able to recognize the device.
Xcode 14 is not able to build 32-bit apps: https://developer.apple.com/news/upcoming-requirements/?id=06062022a Given that we need to build the next app version with Xcode 14 for improved iOS 16 support, it is sadly unlikely that the app will be functioning on iOS 9.
