"Delete collections of missing accounts"

Open xandro0777 opened this issue 3 months ago • 4 comments

I get this dialog window very often and it is very bugging.

First, if some accounts went missing, would not it be better to offer more and better solutions to the problem, like connecting the items to another account or store it locally instead of deleting.

Second, I have some 4 notes and all seem to be local and I can't change anything there or do not find any option to do so.

Last the dialog is displayed much too often and there seems no way to ignore it other than clicking it whenever it pops up.

Please use the template and fill out the necessary data for issue reports. So which Android version and app version do you use?

Why would you keep a collection of a deleted account? You can still create a local collection and move the entries there. The collections of the account would automatically be deleted, if the account is deleted in DAVx5, if you do it in the system settings, jtx Board is not notified and leaves it up to the user to handle the remaining collections.

So isn't that what the popup should actually suggest and help to do?

Try to look at it from the perspective of a fresh user who doesn't have intimate knowledge of the App.

2 months ago I was testing dozens of note taking Apps from F-Droid and jtx came out amongst the best 4. I created a few notes, tried to share a few links from Fennec, tried to share media files to each app.

Got distracted for a few weeks, in the meantime also tested some calendar Apps.

Now tried jtx again and it greets me with mentioned popup. I have never created a collection in jtx and had no idea what it is and why it asks me if I want to delete some collection. My first thought.. will it delete some data attached to the collection? How do I prevent this? The popup keeps bugging me without offering any help.

In the meantime I looked into the left drawer/collections. There are actually two collections dependent on accounts no longer "present". One was a Google account I recently dissociated from the Android system but is still existing. Another one was a WebDav account created for testing the calendar app.

I think I tried the WebDav account for syncing but wasn't aware that this created a collection and all the implications. Sure enough the syncing did nothing because the previously created notes belonged to a different collection so I completely forgot about it.
