Sequoia support?

Open Dannyboy414 opened this issue 1 year ago • 11 comments

I tried running WinDiskWriter on my mac recently and the app won't load. I wonder if it's a Sequoia support issue. Any plans to support this new OS? Thank you.

Hello. It supports this version of macOS. Could you tell me what’s exactly your problem?

The OS does not allow to open the app, message: Apple could not verify “WinDiskWriter.app” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy.

You can look at this guide: https://github.com/TechUnRestricted/WinDiskWriter/issues/4 Its a pretty common issue with unsigned apps. Apple requires $100 for signing with developer certificate.

Or you can read the information from Apple website: https://support.apple.com/en-us/guide/mac-help/mchleab3a043/mac

Just used it to install Windows 11 pro, making an install USB on an M3 MacBook Air running 15.1.1 (24B91). I have used a lot of different tools/methods to create Windows install USBs in the past but just found yours by googling around for a way to create a Windows installer from a Mac so I thought I would give it a try. Kudos. It works. It's at least as good as the Balena Etcher thing, Rufus, or Unetbootin. So you deserve some recognition. I am going to donate. This should be a standard tool for people on Mac who want to make an installer for Windows.

The people who say it doesn't work seem to not know how to allow a Mac to run a program even though it's not signed which is something the Mac itself will tell you how to do if you click on the info thingy when the initial "open" fails.

Its a code signing issue, i got this popup when I started the latest release

I built it from source with my signing key and everything works as expected. Looks like you just need to do a new build with a signature!

I think you can allow applications from in mac os settings, and click "Open Anyway". It works for me.

It does not open, although I open it from the menu, in the Settings there is no permission to launch this application. And this is not the only application that simply does not work.
