Possible issue with iOS 18.7?

Open mjdbb1 opened this issue 3 months ago • 5 comments

Anyone using this on iOS 18.7? I just upgraded and I'm having an issue on one of my two devices. Every other time the shortcut runs (or I run it manually) is stops with this error:

com.apple.extensionKit.errorDomain error 2

I've deleted and re-setup, still not working. I can't figure out what could be different between these devices (one is an iPhone SE3 and one is an iPad mini 7.

For anyone else - I ended up finding a workaround. Edit the shortcut and go towards the bottom where it has:

Set Wallpaper 1 to Base Image for Lock Screen and Home Screen

Delete that whole step and add a new step (that's identical). I have no idea but I did that and it's working.

Aaaaaand I have to correct myself again. That fix did not survive a reboot. It also won’t work again. So I can’t explain it. Any help?

This shortcut needs an entire re-write from the ground up to be compatible with the newest versions of iOS. Apple has also changed the way shortcuts can download web content when the screen is locked due to security reasons. I won't be able to re-visit it until I upgrade to a new phone at some point in the future, then I'll evaluate whether it is still feasible to maintain.

Any idea why it works fine on an iPad with 18.7 but not an iPhone with 18.7? Plus it’s so weird that it’s broken every other time. So weird.

I would honestly be surprised if it does. Will hope for a revival in the coming years 🙏
