Release v2.0 Information

Hi all, I wanted to jot down my current planned features and changes for version 2.0. This isn't exhaustive, it's just the bigger things that will be more noticeable. I'm waiting until I upgrade my device, so that I can have access to the latest iOS version. If you have anything you'd like to see, feel free to post below. Keep in mind that some things may not be possible due to the restrictive nature of Shortcuts, but I'll do my best.

  • Add autosave feature, to automatically save the daily images to your camera roll or another folder on your device.
  • Optimize the fetching of past wallpapers by sending only 1 API request and parsing out the information, instead of making 7 in a loop.
  • Add configuration of the blur feature that was added in newer versions of iOS to the wallpaper.
  • Project page/readme redesign, and UX flow optimizations to the shortcut itself.

Things I'll likely be avoiding:

  • Fancy menus using VCard sheets, as this normally causes unnecessary privacy pop-ups saying that the VCard data will be sent to a remote server, which is not at all true with the implementation I would use. The only HTTP requests in the shortcut are GET requests, so I do not understand why the operating system still displays this confusing warning.

Due to the changes in iOS 18, this checklist may change. Not really sure what's going to happen yet. Check this thread if you're interested: #10
