How can I use it to stream via VLC?

I want to stream via VLC or ffmpeg, but I don't know how to use it as input. I mean something like http://:/stream.

Is it even possible?

It should be possible with http://localhost:port/dir (I don't know which port this application operates because I don't find usage documentation)
