Refresh Loop on iOS/iPadOS

Attempting to load a page causes it to refresh about every second, continuously. I've observed this on iPhone and iPad on iOS 15.5 and iOS 16 beta respectively.

Every second? Or, does it happen once you load a page like mentioned in #1199, I find this behavior really strange, since I've never seen it

Yeah you're right I probably should've recorded it, I'll do it next time it happens.

@FireMasterK Caught the loop issue this time (Yes, my hands are completely off my device). Device: iPad 5th generation, iOS 16 Beta.

Edit to mention I've observed this across multiple instances in the past, including the official one. Another edit to mention that clearing browser cache OR rebooting the instance are the only fixes I've found.

Just an update, I'm actually unsure I've ever observed this on iOS 15. Since upgrading my phone to iOS 16 however, it now joins my iPad in having this issue pop up about once every day or two. It's a surprisingly frequent problem.

I've turned on Web Inspector as the page was in this state to try and find a specific cause, to no avail (there were no errors being logged).

The only solution has still been to go to Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data and delete the cache/cookies for the Piped instance.

I also have a similar bug on an iPhone SE (2020) running iOS 17.1.2. The bug occurs if you move the Piped icon from the Safari browser to the desktop and thereby use Piped as a PWA.

This also happens to me on an iPhone XS Max on iOS 17.2.1, ~~only on the PWA afaict~~ it also happens inside safari but I think only when the PWA is installed, I also tried disabling NextDNS and it does not seem to affect it.

Clearing the website data doesn’t fix it for me, reinstalling the PWA did but it broke again after a couple of minutes…
