[Request] Block Channels
It would be nice to be able to block channels from your view. I would envision another icon (possibly an eye with a slash through it) next to audio only, and add to playlist icons that would add that channel name to a block list which is auto filtered when searching, viewing the trending section, or any recommended videos while watching a video. This list could be managed under the preferences for the account.
Why is this marked as wontfix without any explanation?
It really is disappointing to see the lack of these channel filtering features since YouTube support for it is inconsistent (the option to block a channel is not exposed in predictable contexts) and Piped, as the most viable alternative, seems to me like the ideal place to implement such a control feature.
Speaking for myself, the lack of control over blocking channels is the primary reason I seek out an alternative interface to YouTube because there are so many toxic and useless channels akin to content farms (if only there were a way to block all videos with clickbait thumbnails of the channel-owner making some face to feign some excitement or disappointment or other attention-grabbing surface-level simulation of emotion).
Why is this marked as wontfix without any explanation?
This is simply because none of the maintainers currently have time, or interest to add this. You're welcome to submit a PR to add support for blocking channels as an optional feature. I'm more than happy to accept contributions for this.
