Feature description

can you please include an option not only to remember download settings (which i've seen other people already asked for) but also not to ask every single video's download settings every single time?

Why do you want this feature?

this gets a bit cumbersome especially when trying to download entire courses

Additional information

perhaps a good (maybe even better) alternative that would achieve the same function would be allowing the user to download entire playlists with a couple presses, in that case the downooad format details dialog wouldn't nearly get in the way as much

download entire playlists with a couple presses

#5482

However, keeping this issue separately open is still useful. I personally don’t tend to switch video qualities a lot.

A checkbox like Remember last options and avoid download popup should be added in settings. Enabling this setting will show Downloading 720p video has started toast with a CHANGE button instead. Clicking on this button will allow modifying download options.

please, make the requested feature be optional/switchable in the app settings !!!

This would allow me to automate downloads too using Tasker, which currently still requires me to tap through the dialog.

Or, alternatively, let user make a priority list of formats. Youtube does have a finite set of available formats, but not all of them are provided for every video. So remembering one preference presents a risk that the video will not be available in the desired format. Having a sorted list of all formats allows for fallback options until an available format is reached. Maybe make it two separate lists, one for downloading video and one for when downloading just audio.

I would appreciate one-click-download icon -> it would download the contents without any confirmation (based on previously selected options or options set somewhere in Settings). I download everything I like, so this would make it much easier than always going through all options and clicking Download.

Ideally there would even be 2(3) one-click download buttons:

  • one for video (with a preferred video format)
  • one for audio only (with a preferred audio format)
  • (one for subtitle only)

(maybe in the settings we could select which one-click DL kinds we want to see 🤔)

Even more Ideally, would be ALL LIKE NOW is , but with "REMEMBER" my choice checkbox or switch , which can be uncheked in any time in being of the process, or somewhere in the "options/settings" !!!

I like that the app remembers the previous config next time the dialogue box opens. It would be a pretty minimal change for it to at least remember the chosen option for each tab separately. So someone could have it show, pre-selected, 480p for video, 160kbps opus for audio, and Swedish for captions. That would cut down on need to change stuff around by a lot.
